This piece was kinda a struggle, especially the pine needles in the foreground. The issue was how to make it look like needles and not lose the tree trunk on the left, which has a similar texture. I combatted this by using varied colors in the needles, but I don't know how effective it was. I also had a hard time going in with darks to create depth, but a push from Mrs. Rossi made me let go a little, and I'm happy with the way the folds in the mushroom and the base of the trunk look because of the dark purples I used. My favorite part was the background with all the yellows and greens that contrasts the reds and purples in the needles.
